Upgrade of level monitoring system in grain storage

A large grain storage facility in the south of England required a reliable content measuring device to replace an old acoustic wave system which was no longer functioning. Configured was a non-contact radar measurement device from UWT combined with a visualization software. Non-contact continuous level measurement UWT (UK) Limited proposed the use of the free-radiating radar NivoRadar® NR 3100 which could be supplied with an aiming flange. The integrated aiming flange allowed the radar to be mounted in the same position as the previous acoustic wave device which was close to the silo side wall and which allowed for the narrow 4˚ beam to be aimed towards the lowest point of the silo. This saved the customer time and money as they didn’t need to move the mounting position towards the centre of the silo where the silo was filled from. Contact-free radar solution for water treatment slurry

Continuous level measurement technology from UWT was installed for the upgrade of the wastewater system of a company in the food manufacturing industry in Colombia. Together with the local partner INTAI INGENIERIA S.A.S. several on-site tests were carried out and a non-contact solution was preferred. Chemical and disinfectant substances require chemical resistance and a robust design. Accurate and fast level measurement The manufacturer of various dairy products needed a reliable solution to control medium solid waste from the plant’s effluent treatment process. The concrete tanks are 4 meters long and the material has the consistency of sludge with a DK value of 4. The pressure is in the range of 0.8 bar (11.6 psi) up to 5 bar (73 psi). Capacitive level measurement technology for detection of crude oil

For the implementation of a reliable level limit measurement within lubricating oil pipelines of tyre production, the limited space situation as well as high material viscosity had to be considered in particular. Level limit measurement in pipelines with lubricating oil One of the largest global tyre manufacturers needed a reliable point level sensor to measure the level in a 3” tube with lubricating oil in their subsidiary in Argentina. Due to the viscosity of the material, not every measuring principle works in this installation situation. The crude oil has a DK value between 2 and 3, the process pressure can be up to 0.8 bar (11.6 psi) and the process temperature up to 80 °C (176 °F). In addition, there is a high moisture content with condensate within the atmosphere. In this case, the ideal solution was UWT’s Capanivo® CN 7000 capacitive point level sensor. The sensor has a ½” stainless steel thread and a PPS probe. The integrated active build-up compensation prevents incorrect switching due to material adhesion around the probe. To produce natural rosemary extract in Slovenia a continuous content measurement for several tanks was installed. These work with the capacitive measuring principle, which is becoming increasingly popular, and have been configured for special process connections. Upgrade of level monitoring system in grain storage

A large grain storage facility in the south of England required a reliable content measuring device to replace an old acoustic wave system which was no longer functioning. Non-contact continuous level measurement UWT (UK) Limited proposed the use of the free-radiating radar NivoRadar® NR 3100 which could be supplied with an aiming flange. The integrated aiming flange allowed the radar to be mounted in the same position as the previous acoustic wave device which was close to the silo side wall and which allowed for the narrow 4˚ beam to be aimed towards the lowest point of the silo. This technology is based on electromagnetic waves. A radar device emits a concentrated electromagnetic wave, which is reflected by objects as an echo and then evaluated by the device according to various criteria. Depending on the application, the following information can be obtained from the reflected waves: -the angle or the direction to the object -the speed of an object (Doppler effect) -the contours of an object -the distance to the object The latter point means that radar technology is also used for determining fill levels. Contact-free radar sensor for content level measurement detection in seawater tanks In Malaysia, a plant operator in the power generation field was looking for a smart solution for continuous level monitoring of its seawater tanks. To meet the challenges of space constraints and the salty atmosphere within the containers with robust accurate content detection, the NivoRadar® NR 3000 contact-free radar sensor with robust stainless steel housing was used. The radar sensor works with a high-frequency 78 GHz signal, which is emitted with a very narrow beam of only 4°, reflected by the sea water and received again by the sensor.
