GREIF-VELOX CONNECT 2025: Networking for Smart Packaging Solutions

130 guests, impressive technology, and strong partnerships — that was our in-house exhibition, GREIF-VELOX CONNECT, on May 13, 2025. This year’s customer event was three times larger than in 2024, yet remained just as personal, hands-on, and future-focuse

Experience the factory, workers and machines live

In multiple tour groups, participants explored our facility in the Kronsforder Landstraße. Our managing directors, Thorsten Köll and Sebastian Pohl, and the manager F&E, Dr. Alexander Mildner, personally guided visitors through the production areas — accompanied by dedicated team members who enthusiastically showcased our technology.

Guests experienced live demonstrations of:

  • Filling system K-DOS
  • Air packers BVP / BVPV
  • Vacuum packer VeloVac (for valve bags)
  • Vacuum packer VeloVac XL (for FIBCs) — featuring an impressive fog special effect

Innovation expo with strong partners

Alongside the factory tours, the nearby Exvoli Studios hosted an innovation expo: our technology partners presented current developments, digital solutions, and live demos. Highlights included robotics innovations from KUKA, air filtration systems from Riedel Filtertechnik, a full roadshow by Hecht Technologie, live labeling from Bluhm Systeme, as well as system solutions from Markem-Imaje, Interroll, Busch Vacuum Solutions, and dy-pack. The diversity of exhibits made one thing clear: forward-looking packaging solutions are created through strong collaboration.

Expert talks for deeper insights

Upstairs at the Exvoli Studios, several technical presentations were held in parallel, sparking fresh ideas and vibrant discussion. Topics ranged from ”Efficient Production through Modern Robotics” (moin robotics) and ”Industrial Air Filtration and Its Specific Challenges” (Riedel Filtertechnik) to ”The Clean Cycle of Packaging” [Link Clean Cycle of Packaging] and ”Packaging as a Service (PaaS)”, presented by our managing director Sebastian Pohl.

Networking evening to round off the day

At lunchtime, we served refreshments outdoors in perfect spring weather — a welcome moment for relaxed conversation between sessions, including with international guests. We were especially pleased to welcome our new U.S. partners, Trans Automation Technology. The day concluded with a casual networking evening at Sudden Death Brewing, complete with great connections and a relaxed atmosphere.

Packaging machine specialist Greif-Velox launches “Packaging as a Service” for the bagging of ultra-light powders With a new “Packaging as a Service” (PaaS) model, Greif-Velox Maschinenfabrik GmbH is offering an integrated service package for industrial powder bagging without any initial investment for the first time. The offer includes machine provision, financing, service, spare parts and merchandise parts as well as the supply of suitable paper bags as required - at a fixed monthly price. End-to-end solution for ultra-light powders While previous PaaS models in the packaging industry were limited to cardboard or reusable packaging solutions, GREIF-VELOX transfers the principle to complex industrial bagging systems - and goes one step further: the package not only includes consumables, but also the entire process from financing to commissioning and spare parts supply. The first application is in combination with VeloVac vacuum technology for dust-free filling of ultra-light powders. An expansion to other machine types such as the A-DOS-P1 and the BVP gross pneumatic packer

Lean production - Basics of methodical process optimization
Lean production optimized systems reduce waste, increase productivity and ensure maximum efficiency - from development to operation. - Up to 80 % faster product changes - Avoid production errors - Flexible filling - Longer service life Lean production refers to an organized production system with the goal of maximizing production efficiency and minimizing waste (Muda). Production companies use lean production in order to be competitive in globalized production competition. In lean production, the methods 5S, Kaizen, Just-in-Time (JIT), Total Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Value Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) are used. Whether the implementation of lean production in a company is successful is measured using the seven key figures lead time (delivery time), cycle time, throughput, utilization, error rate, value-added ratio and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Employees are a key success factor in lean production. Their involvement in decisions and improvement processes, training to expand their skills and their ability to make improvements independently
