RHEWUM is an independent family owned company which was founded in 1927 as „Rheinische Werkzeug- und Maschinenfabrik“.

We have been developing and manufacturing screening machines and vibrating feeders since the beginning of the 1950’s. These cover the entire field of dry, wet and analysing screens for a vast variety of applications for leading companies worldwide. Our screening technology is used by leading companies worldwide, across a broad spectrum of different industrial tasks.

Screening machines for separating glass fiber-reinforced polyamide
Learn how RHEWUM’s screening technology optimizes the separation of glass fiber reinforced polyamide beads to increase quality and efficiency in material processing. Introduction The industry is continuously faced with the challenge of processing materials not only efficiently and economically, but also meeting the quality requirements of end products. A special focus is on the processing and separation of plastics, especially glass fiber-reinforced polyamide spheres (PA GF). These specialty plastics, enriched with glass fiber, offer improved mechanical properties and are therefore in high demand in many technical applications. Efficient sieving of these materials is crucial for the purity of the end product and thus for the quality. In this context, RHEWUM sieving machines play a central role. Technological progress in sieving technology RHEWUM’s sieving technology is based on long experience and continuous development to meet the specific requirements of different materials. Particularly in the separation of glass fiber-reinforced polyamide spheres, it is essential to achieve precise separation to secure the desired material

Screening Machines for Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling As the world gravitates towards sustainable solutions, the recycling of lithium-ion batteries has emerged as a crucial element in our green future.
Screening Machines for Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling
As the world gravitates towards sustainable solutions, the recycling of lithium-ion batteries has emerged as a crucial element in our green future. Central to this process is the handling of ’black mass,’ a complex substance that presents unique challenges in recycling and especially screening. Understanding Black Mass Screening Black mass, primarily composed of valuable metals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, also contains graphite, which complicates the recycling process. Screening is essential at different stages, such as removing larger metal foils during black mass creation and purifying black mass by removing materials like aluminum and copper. The primary challenge arises from the large fraction of fine graphite particles in black mass, which can be as small as 10 µm. The nature of fine graphite as a sticky, greasy material complicates the process. It tends to adhere to other particles, making separation difficult. Additionally, graphite’s propensity to clog meshes and form agglomerates that move as cakes across screens reduces screening efficiency. Traditional screening methods often struggle

Screening machines with pneumatic vacuum cleaning for sorbitol Four profitable RHEsono® vibrating screening machines equipped with pneumatic vacuum cleaning technology have been delivered to Shanghai, China.
Screening machines with pneumatic vacuum cleaning for sorbitol
Four profitable RHEsono® vibrating screening machines equipped with pneumatic vacuum cleaning technology have been delivered to Shanghai, China. These machines are set to advance the sieving process for sorbitol, a widely used sugar substitute and food additive (E 420) in various industrially manufactured food products. Each of the four RHEsono® sieving machines is equipped with three sieve decks and a remarkable processing capacity of 10 tons per hour. The sieving application involves sorbitol with three distinct particle size fractions: 1.25 mm, 0.5 mm, and 0.28 mm. Sorbitol, also known as food additive E 420, glucitol or hexanhexol, belongs to the group of sugar alcohols, making it a crucial ingredient in the food industry as a sugar substitute, carrier substance, and moisture retention agent. The Challenge of Sieving Sorbitol Sorbitol processing can be a challenging task due to its sticky nature even when it has low moisture levels. This characteristic can lead to sieving complications, including mesh clogging, which can negatively impact product quality. To address this issue, RHEWUM’s RHEsono®

Efficient separation technology for foundries Foundries face the challenge of efficiently separating casting molds and sand cores from cast metal parts. This sand must be recycled.
Efficient separation technology for foundries
Foundries face the challenge of efficiently separating casting molds and sand cores from cast metal parts. This sand must be recycled. What is Cast Shakeout and Sand Shakeout? After the molten metal is poured into the molds and solidified, these molds need to be removed to obtain the finished castings. This process is called shakeout. Cast Shakeout specifically refers to the separation of casting molds or cores from the cast metal parts. Cores made of materials such as ceramics, which have a different composition than the surrounding sand, are often used. To obtain the final shape of the casting, these cores need to be removed. On the other hand, Sand Shakeout involves the separation of sand molds and sand cores from the cast metal parts. Sand is commonly used as a molding material in the foundry industry. Once the metal is cast and solidified, the sand molds need to be removed to expose the castings. RHEtrans for efficient Cast Shakeout RHEtrans by RHEWUM is an oscillating chute with an unbalanced drive, known for its economical conveying capability and robust, reliable construction. RHEtrans

Screening machines for dedusting and classification of lignin Screening machines optimize the quality of lignin by removing impurities and dust, classifying lignin pellets by size and eliminating lumps.
Screening machines for dedusting and classification of lignin
Screening machines optimize the quality of lignin by removing impurities and dust, classifying lignin pellets by size and eliminating lumps. Lignin is the second most common biopolymer on earth after cellulose. In the industrial processing of wood, especially in paper production, lignin is produced in large quantities as a by-product. In the past, this by-product was often burned to generate energy, but due to its chemical structure and properties, it is now used as a filler, additive, binder, reinforcing agent or adsorbent. The use of lignin in these and other applications is in line with the trend towards the bioeconomy, in which renewable, plant-based raw materials are used instead of fossil resources. Improved lignin quality Screening machines help improve the quality of the produced lignin and prepare it for specific applications or further processing steps: - Cleaning and separation: Lignin obtained from the pulping process of lignocellulosic materials may contain impurities or undesirable solid components. Screening machines can help to remove these impurities. - Classifying: Lignin particles

Insect larvae - smoothly separated with new processes
Insect larvae separations require high-precision, smooth screening processes that are suitable for keeping living particles alive in the technical process. RHEWUM uses machines of the RHEflex type, among others, for this purpose. The RHEflex linear vibrating screen is used for protective screening and classification of medium- and coarse-grained bulk materials. For these machines, a special process has been developed for a simplified change of PU-panels. In this process, one screening surface consists of three cassettes each, in which PU-panels are fixed. This gives maintenance teams quick and easy access to the screen elements. Screening elements: Special screen linings made of polyurethane For separation, polymesh PU screen panels made of polyurethane are used instead of screen cloths. The abrasion-resistant and cost-efficient polymesh screen panels combine durability with maximum precision. They are ideal for screening fine, abrasive or moist materials. In this way, smooth separation of larvae from the culture medium can be carried out.
