Innovative degassing and decontamination technologies for demanding recycling applications: Gneuss presents new series of OMNI Recycling Machines Hall 9, Stand A22 GNEUSS EXTRUSION TECHNOLOGY New OMNI Recycling Machines for closed loop recycling of PET, PS and polyolefin post-consumer reclaim Gneuss’ MRS Extrusion Technology has proven itself as an alternative for the reprocessing of contaminated materials like polyester, polystyrene, polypropylene or polyethylenes. In combination with the highly efficient Gneuss Rotary Filtration Systems and optimized vacuum technology, customizable recycling lines tailor-made for a specific material can be engineered. Several Letters of Non Objection (LNOs) from the FDA, EFSA conformity and local approvals in Latin America confirm the decontamination efficiency of the technology. Samples of polypropylene tubs for food applications made with 30 % post consumer PP and PS sheet made from 30 % post consumer PS, processed on Gneuss OMNI Recycling Machines with MRS extruders and RSFgenius filtration systems, will be shown at K. OMNI Recycling Machine for post-consumer fiber or thermoform…

Reliable, trouble-free melt filtration
If inhouse waste and heavily contaminated post-consumer waste are added to the production process, foreign particles of various sizes and quantities are introduced into the melt flow. These have to be filtered out efficiently to ensure a consistent and high quality of the end product. At the same time, however, melt filtration must not have any disturbing influence on the production process. Several filtration systems require a production interruption when changing screens, cause process disturbances due to pressure spikes or even generate particles if deposited material comes off during screen changes. Disturbance-free production process thanks to permanently constant conditions In contrast, with the unique Gneuss Rotary Technology, the conditions in the melt flow are permanently constant, i.e. the pressure drop across the screen, respectively the amount of contamination on the screen, is kept constant, so that the line can always be operated in the optimum range. This is achieved by the rotating movement of the filter disk, with which the screens are transported through the melt channel. A control system ensures that the screen contamination…

PET Sheet Lines: Fit for recycled material thanks to retrofitted line Key components and know-how for plant optimisation in sheet extrusion
PET Sheet Lines: Fit for recycled material thanks to retrofitted line
Key components and know-how for plant optimisation in sheet extrusion The demand for PET packaging sheet, which contains a high proportion of recycled material or is even made of 100% of it, has recently increased enormously due to public discussion and legal requirements. In order to be able to meet these requirements, many processors are confronted with high investment costs for equipment that can process recycled materials. After all, the quality of the end product must be good. An ideal possibility to combine low investment costs with an extended processing window for recycled material is offered by Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH from Bad Oeynhausen with a special retrofit service. One of the companies that has used this service is Cotnyl S.A. from San Martín, thus being the first company in Argentina to obtain local approval to produce packaging made of 100% r-PET. On the one hand, the demand for plastic packaging is constantly increasing worldwide due to changing consumption and consumption habits, especially in the food and…

Gneuss Recycling Process with many food contact approvals The Gneuss MRS Recycling Process: Approved for Food Packaging Worldwide
Gneuss Recycling Process with many food contact approvals
The Gneuss MRS Recycling Process: Approved for Food Packaging Worldwide Since the first “Letter of Non Objection” from the American FDA in 2009, the Gneuss recycling process based around the MRS extruder has received a large number of approvals for processing up to 100 % post- consumer and industrial polymer waste to food contact products. This year, Gneuss obtained food contact approval from Anvisa, the first-ever in Brazil. This approval is for the Gneuss PET process for recycling PET post-consumer and post-industrial waste to sheet for thermoforming to food contact containers. It is a significant contribution toward increasing polymer recycling. In Latin America, the Gneuss recycling process has also achieved the standards set by the Colombian food safety agency, Invima and its Argentinian counterpart, Senasa for processing 100 % post-consumer PET waste to food contact products. In Europe, the Gneuss recycling process has passed the EFSA challenge test for the processing of 100 % post-consumer PET. A study by the British charity…
